Direct provision versus facility collection of HIV tests: impacts of self-testing among female sex workers in Uganda
3ie Impact evaluation report 84
Katrina Ortblad, Daniel Kibuuka Musoke, Thomson Ngabirano, Catherine Oldenburgand and Till Bärnighausen
Authors evaluated the impacts on HIV testing rates of directly providing female sex workers with HIV self-test kits or coupons that they could exchange for a free test kit, as well as a peer educator referring them to a facility for standard testing. They found that direct provision was more effective than either referral or the offer of a coupon.
